Louis E. Witherington, of Dolton, IL, age 74, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond, IN. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Elaine, nee Carlson; beloved mother, Zula Witherington; one son, Dale (the late Barbara, nee Kodat) of Dyer, IN; two daughters, Karen (Richard) Crouse and Kathy (Randy) Bingham both of Manhattan; proud grandfather of Jeremy (Jamie, nee Fulk), Samantha (David) Meyers and Audra, nee Borman, Jennifer (fiance Joseph Macsek), Russell and Sandra Crouse, Brad, Corey and Brooke Bingham; great-grandfather of Jessica, Juliann and baby boy Jacob, Witherington and Hannah and Robby Meyers; dear brother of Maxine (the late Harold) McDonald, LeRoy (Deloris), Bobby (Sue), Ruth (the late John) Cooper and Ellene (Larry) Cooper; fond Uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Louis served his country proudly with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was known for his positive attitude and considered to be a "Jack of all trades". His favorite past time was fishing. Memorial services for Louis Witherington will be 7 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Forsythe Funeral Home, Manhattan, IL, Rev. Carl Wagner officiating. Private committal service Friday at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. The family will be receiving friends Thursday 4 p.m. until time of service.
