Margaret Charnley Obituary

Margaret ''Meg'' C. Charnley, age 45, of Chicago, died Monday, March 12, 2001 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, MI. Meg was born Feb. 17, 1956 in Kalamazoo to Donald and Cindy Charnley. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central H.S., Michigan State University with a B.A. in Political Science and earned a certificate in Civil Litigation from the Paralegal Institute in Philadelphia, PA. Most of Meg's career was in the legal field as a paralegal, staffing services for legal clientele and as a paralegal manager in several law firms. Meg's most recent employment had been with The Northwestern Memorial Foundation as the Assistant Director of Donor Relations. Her love of big cities took her to Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, returning to her beloved city of Chicago in 1998. Meg was a member of The Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago. She was an active volunteer in the City of Chicago. During her college years, she joined the Chi Omega Sorority. While in San Francisco, Meg was a member of the Junior League. She loved to sail, traveled to many new places throughout the United States and beyond and spent time with her beloved friends whenever possible. Meg was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother, Cynthia; brother, Doug (Kelly); sisters, Beth (Tim) Clay, Ellen (Rod) Lounds and Sarah (Jim) Pooler; 11 nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly; many aunts and uncles, cousins and beloved friends. Meg enjoyed a special relationship with her cousins, Mary Helen and Bruce Feighner. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24 at the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago (address listed below). Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence, 5473 Croyden Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49009 or The Northwestern Memorial Foundation, 750 N. Lake Shore Dr., Suite 542, Chicago, IL 60611 or The Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago, 126 E. Chestnut St., Chicago, IL 60611 or Palliative Care & Home Hospice Program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, attention Mary Beth Williams, Wesley Pavilion, Room 172, 251 E. Huron, Chicago, IL 60611 or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
