Mary Ann Banaski

Mary Ann Banaski, age 88 of Munster and formerly of Hobart passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at home. She was born on April 16, 1934 in Gary, Indiana to the late Joseph and Estelle Banaski. Mary graduated from Hobart High School. She retired from National Tea Foods and A&P Foods where she worked as an accountant. She was also a caregiver for ten years. Mary was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Hobart and St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Munster. She is survived by her sister, Antoinette (Robin) Hood; her best friend, Mary Kammerer; her beloved dog, Joey; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Estelle Banaski; brothers, Richard, Joseph and James Banaski; sisters, Barbara Bobrowski and Laura Kimmel. Visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, March 17, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 107 Main Street, Hobart with prayers starting at the funeral home at 9:30 am.
