To the Ascaridis Family, Debbie. I have known Matt since Debbie brought the boys to Glenview learn to skate program.
He was Joey's big brother, keeping him out of trouble.
Matt was always kind, the kind of player you would want on your team. He repaid his love of the game by going into coaching. He displayed the love of his team
by showing the dedication to his team. The hockey world will miss you.

Matt and Joey grew up on Grove Street across from my brother and I. Matt was always a nice kid with a welcoming family; so many good memories of playing with him and neighborhood kids. Matt also starred on teen wheel of fortune (anyone remember this?!). So many good times! Sending love to all who need it right now.

Dear family and friends of Matt,

It is with great sadness that I write this note. I was Matt´s Finance professor and Associate Dean during his time in the Notre Dame Exec. MBA program. I got to know Matt well, during our course and through the program, and our discussions since. Matt emanated intelligence, care, listening and contributing his thoughts, and of course his humor with that smile! Matt stood out in the class which was filled with special characters, and nice memories keep occurring. I am confident what I and others at Notre Dame experienced sound familiar to you, magnified tenfold for you because of your love and time with Matt. I know he is already sorely missed and leaves a hole in your and our hearts.

Please know that the thoughts, love and prayers from Matt´s classmates, professors, and the entire Notre Dame community are with Matt and you, his family and friends, during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Walt Clements
ND Faculty member and friend

Darci, Joey and the entire family - I was very sad when I heard the news. I will remember Matt as a very kind person. He was always smiling when I saw him. He always said something good about you. Those traits are rare these days. I am glad I knew Matt. He made a lasting impression on my life.

Our hearts are broken for your family ..... we remember Matt as such a warm and kind person. He really did have a way of making you feel like someone important, even if you really didn´t know him well - he had the warmess smile. Our kids swam together at the lake and Matt watched over them so attentively. He talked with us as if we always keep each other. We are happy we had the pleasure to be with him when we did as lake neighbors to the Koziol family. Joe, Julie and Deb and family we are thinking of you constantly.

I cannot tell you how sorry the entire Rekett family is to hear about Matt...Matt and Joe were Reed´s first travel hockey coaches and we will never forget Matt pounding on the boards and yelling, "Pass it to Reed...Pass it to Reed"! Matt made a lasting impact on Reed and will always be remembered as one of his most favorite coaches and ours too. Sending prayers and love to the entire Ascaridis family during this incredibly sad time.

Dear Matt,

Cant believe you're gone.

We spent so little time together and yet, you touched my life so deeply. You had this magical ability of making people feel special.

I was able to open up to you like a best friend, you were that bright spark at one of the lowest points in my life.

You reminded me that life can be fun...

Heaven is richer place with you in it...
