Maurice L O'Brien, born November 26, 1925 in Cobh, Co Cork, Ireland. Died January 2, 2015 in Chicago, IL. Loving and dedicated husband of 62 yrs to Marie (nee O'Connor). Caring father and wonderful role model to Michael (Cheryl), Ethna (Jim) Byrne, and John (Katy). Adored Gramps to James, Kevin, Cora, Meaghan, Brenna, Emily, Emma, Tara, Alexander, Andrew, and Ashley. Cherished brother-in-law of Anne (late Dan) Reppen, Eithne (John) O'Flynn, Angela (late Seamus) Dwyer, and Diarmuid "Jerry" (Christina) O'Connor. Raised in Youghal, Ireland, together with Marie, made the courageous decision to emigrate. They settled in Chicago in 1956. He worked for over 28 yrs at Montgomery Ward and then over 10 yrs at Columbus Hospital. Carpenter, true craftsman, inspiration to many and loved by all who knew him. A wonderful, good person. "Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it and - which is more- you'll be a man my son" Rest well with all our love. Memorial visitation Wednesday 10:30-11:30 with 11:30 AM mass at St. Gertrude Church, 1420 W Granville, Chicago. Interment private.
