I am very late in learning of Michael's passing but am passing along my very sincere condolences to Helene and the boys. I worked for Michael at the old Hitchcock Publishing Co. in Wheaton when he was in his early 30s, and I was just out of J-school. He was a great boss--skillful, knowledgeable and detail oriented, but also kind and patient in helping me learn the ropes. We kept in touch after I went to Cahners and I followed his career with interest, helping with a bit of networking here and there, but I lost track of him in recent years. Nonetheless I always remembered his professionalism, his quick wit, his love of his family, and his genuine friendship. I know how sorely he is missed.

To Michael's Family,
Michael and I kept in touch long after my stint with APA and his with UDM Magazine. We produced the Furniture Design Contest together for several years. He was a fabulous writer, editor and judge of impeccable taste. We both made late-in-life career moves after the Great Recession and kept up periodic check-ins. Our last check-in was about a year ago when he informed me about his health. That final call meant a lot to both of us. Rest in peace my brother.

Cookie you know how fond of Michael I was. He has been a friend since Kindergarten. He was one of the sweetest guys I knew. We worked together on many of our reunions
and always enjoyed reconnecting.
I am happy for you both that his
suffering has ended. The virus
kept us all away and you alone
with ALS. Now he is resting in
peace. My condolences go out
to you and your boys.Stay safe
and stay well!

Michael and I were classmates at Von Steuben High School and freshman year roommates at Illinois, 1966-67. He was one of the most kind and thoughtful people I knew. I last spoke to him at our 50th High School reunion in 2016. May Michael's memory be for a blessing.

May Michael's good name be for a blessing. I had the opportunity to work with MIchael on numerous editorial case studies and public relations assignments during his respected business tenure at United Stationers/Essendant. He was extremely kind and fair minded. We had many fine meetings and talks
in the garden-like setting where USSCO employees gathered for lunch and other company events.
He spoke often of his great family and what they meant to him. When USSCO downsized its staff, Michael moved on and found fulfillment serving the office products and dealer segment as an outstanding freelance writer and editor. The industry has lost a wonderful, highly-skilled spokesman. Those who knew and collaborated with Michael over the years have lost a true friend. He was a mensch!
