Michael Karazeris

KARAZERIS, M.D., MICHAEL P. Michael P. Karazeris, M.D., 91, of Inverness, Illinois, died August 14, 2016, in Athens, Greece. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Joyce Bohren, daughter, Ellen (Jason) Verlen, son, Peter, and grandchildren, Wyatt and Danielle Verlen, Michael and Cate Karazeris. He is also survived by brother, George (Marea) Karazeris, Patras, Greece, and nephews Panagis Karazeris, and Argyris and Panagiotis Stamopoulos, also in Greece. He was predeceased by his parents Panagiotis and Eleni and siblings Panagoula Karazeris and Antiope Stamopoulos. Born and raised in Akrata, Greece, Michael served as a medic in the Greek Air Force and attended medical school at the University of Athens. He came to the United States in 1953 to complete a residency in internal medicine and, thereafter, to eventually establish his practice in Arlington Heights. He was on the medical staff of Northwest Community Hospital. After retirement, he was honored in 2000 by the AMA for 50 years of dedicated service to the medical profession.Michael was distinguished by the respect of his peers, incomparable sense of humor, kindness and caring for the well-being of others, and his dedication to his wife and family. He was an avid golfer, talented cook, exceptional gardener, and devotee of the CSO. Memorial visitation Friday from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy, Palatine.
