Michael J. McCarthy, 85, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2009. Born in Chicago, IL., on Sep. 13, 1923. He proudly served as Lieutenant in the US Navy. Mr. McCarthy was a registered Civil Engineer in seven states and retired after 35 years as V.P. of Construction with Ragner-Bensen Construction, Inc. of Chicago and Pittsburgh, with the admiration and friendship of colleagues, competitors and employees alike. Mike was a past President of Boca Delray Council of the US Navy League. He was a
lifetime Eagle Scout and a Century Member of the Boy Scouts of America. He is survived by Edna Mae, his life partner and beloved wife of 54 years. He was a loving cousin to John Busch and Wanda of Steamboat Springs, CO; and godfather to Charlie and Michael Busch; he is also survived by his sister Catherine Condon of St. Louis, MO; and his brother Jerry McCarthy of MI. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, April 30th, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. in Bronswood Cemetery, 3805 Madison Ave., Oakbrook. (approx. 1 mile north of Ogden). I too enjoyed Uncle Joe's visits to St. Louis when I was a child. My thoughts and prayers go out to you aunt Edna.

Edna Mae; Mike was much more than someone I worked with for so many years. Mike was my teacher and I've tried to lead my life the way he would have wanted me too. Nancy and I will miss Mike and trust God will watch over and take care of you, God Bless You.
