Mike and I had many adventures as he called them. I just learned of his passing today after reaching out to him to meet up. I met up with him in December so learning of his passing is a bit of a shock to me. Sorry that I missed his service. My condolences to his family and friends. He was one of a kind and will be missed.

I just learned of Mike's passing today. Mike and my late husband Mike spent many summer days on the Fox River boating. Newsh was always eager to get on the water and loved boating with Mike and friends. I always loved the stories my husband would tell me about his weekday boat outings with Newsh. Boating was their Heaven on Earth! Mike was so supportive when my husband died last September, and I was touched by his tremendous effort to attend his services. I enjoyed our conversations about the stock market and his wild, funny stories. I will miss him very much. Rest in peace, Mike.

Mike, it's still hard to believe you are no longer with us, but seeing the wonderful tributes below reminds all of us what a great impact you had on so many people. Words cannot suffice for a man who was larger than life, always had a positive mentality, knew everyone & was always willing to help, and had a breadth of knowledge across so many topics, but hopefully these words have you smiling down in heaven.
Thank you for a decade-plus of advice no matter the topic, unparalleled networking & great memories, and mentorship, but most of all I will always consider myself fortunate for our great friendship.
You are deeply missed my friend, and I hope you are enjoying the park bench & networking in the sky.

Mike was a great guy and you can see from all the comments, was larger than life and impacted the people that he met. He was always willing to introduce people to make connections and his stories were always the best. My condolences to his family and may he rest in peace as he is in God's hands now.

Newshie (what we called him) was a legend. As many have said, larger than life. Above all, he was one-of-a-kind. I met Mike at an event at MHUB Chicago and we quickly became friends. He was generous with his time, and knowledge. I was amazed by how many people he knew and appreciative of his willingness to help others achieve their goals. He will be greatly missed... by many.

Michael had a personality "larger than life". He was generous with his time, wide knowledge base and was always willing to help. He was serious and focused when he needed to be but also had a sense of humor. He knew how to bring people together. Personally, I will miss him.

I am so very sorry to hear about Mike's passing. he was the sweetest little boy. As a teenager, I used to babysit for all the Newsham siblings when we all lived in Resurrection Parish. Many years later, when we all lived in St Vincent Ferrer Parish, some of the Newsham siblings babysat for my daughter. I also remember when Mary and Gerry went away to the lake for a few days, they would alert us to keep an eye on the kids and their house, because they assumed that the minute they left , the party planning would start because the older kids would be having a party. As Mary and Gerry pulled away, the caravan of Mike's friends cars would start pulling up to their house. Mary would always say, that she decided not to clean up too much because their house and yard were always cleaner when they returned. Mike and his family were always fun and sometimes mischievous.
Please accept my condolences.
Love to all of you,
John Rand

I was on the floor at the CBOE and had a desk next to Mike at Sallerson-Troob. Mike was a key to keeping a large group of former trader in touch with each other.
