I just learned of Michael's tragic passing. Nan, Ron, Bobbi, and all the Wexlers, I am so sorry. Long ago, Michael and I would run into each other at auditions, and later I'd sit at his tables at Dick's Last Resort, across the street from my condo. He never ceased to put a smile on my face. It's a great loss for all who knew him.

So very sorry to hear about Michael, I worked with him for years at Ginos. He was a treat to be with , always making me laugh. I first met Mike when I was in 7th grade at James Hart- he choreographed our spring musical "Li'l Abner". We were starstruck- all us girls in the cast had huge crushes on him and called him "sexy Wexy" (I can't believe I just wrote that in a memorial guestbook!). He was brilliant and electric and drew people to him even back then. I'd see him every now and then through the years, and he was always the same- energetic, supportive and hilarious. RIP, Mike. You are irreplaceable, both in the Chicago theater community and in the "HoFlo".

Michael Wexler was a wonderful man I used to work with him at Gino's east on superior in Chicago about 20 or 25 years ago my condolences to the family and friends he will be greatly missed by all I often ran into him at the Starbucks in downtown Homewood. He will be missed by so many people he always put a smile on all of our faces and he was a wonderful artist as well. God rest your soul Michael Wexler.

I met him only twice. Once as he was helping his mother build her Little Free Library and I was walking past with my sons; and once when he stopped by our garage sale with his mother a couple years ago. Sigh. So it is true. I was clinging to the hope that the earlier facebook post was just some sort of mistake or perhaps a publicity teaser for an upcoming movie.
Even here in Decatur, Michigan, Michael made an impact during his winter retreats at the family lake cottage over the past few years. He jumped in to volunteer on our local human services building, he worked at the local soup suppers, and he entertained us with stories about his crazy antics in the city.This winter will be very long without the planned visits and projects with our friend Wex.
