Nancy Fahlstrom Obituary

Nancy Marolyn Fahlstrom (nee Golden), of Chicago, passed away February 16th due to complications caused by Alzheimers. Nancy was born April 3rd, 1952, in Northbrook, IL to Richard and Marian (Katz) Golden. Twin to her brother James, the two would be joined in 1955 by sister Joanne. As a teenager she was drawn to Chicago often attending jazz and blues shows. She attended Ohio University and majored in photography. Her junior year abroad in Italy began a lifetime of travel throughout Europe, Asia, and South America. Inspired by her travels and love of art, she received a master's degree in art history from Columbia University. While studying for her second master's in architecture at the University of Illinois Chicago she met her husband Robert. After graduation, Nancy and Robert had a son Eric and ran their own architecture firm. Later in life, she started a bakery specializing in pies and brownies – selling through her food cart on the Chicago Riverwalk. When Nancy wasn't baking, gardening, attending to her well-loved pets, she was relaxing with her nose in a book. Those of us who knew her will long for her creativity, intelligence, and that twinkle in her eye when she was feeling mischievous. She is survived by her husband Bob and son Eric. Donations in her memory can be made to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
