Norma Blackman Raven, Age 93, July 21, at home after a long illness. Born in New York City to the late David and Esther Blackman. Predeceased by her cherished husband of 50 years, Seymour Raven, she is survived by her loving and beloved family, including sons Jeremy (Jan), Jonathan (Leslie), Joel (Linda), and Marc (Wendy); grandchildren Jane Rosen (Brad), David, Leah, Sarah, and Shana Raven; great granddaughter Elana Rosen; and brother Martin Blackman (Rena). I had the privilege to be one of Ms Raven's nurses. Ms Raven was an inspiration, full of courage and sparkling with wit and humor. It was an honor to take care of Ms Raven. She is a patient I will never forget.

I have such fond memories of many, many days (after school) spent with Joel and Jon Raven at their home. Norma was always welcoming and interested in what we all were thinking about (and in the performances and antics we came up with) She was a lovely, caring and warm person whom I shall always remember.
My condolences to Joel, Jon, Jeremy and Marc and your families.

Mrs. Raven (as I'll always know her) was a wonderful, elegant woman. She was the mother of one of my best friends growing up (Marc) - our downstairs neighbors in East View Park - and I pretty much grew up with her as a constant presence in my life. When she spoke to me, it was always in gentle tones, and her voice had a beautiful, melodic sound to it - very soothing to hear. I don't recall ever hearing a harsh word from her.
I also remember that, in my roughly daily visits to the Ravens' apartment, she was always baking something - delicious breads or cakes, and I always got a sample. It was always a treat - another warm memory from childhood.
My heart goes out to all the Ravens - Jeremy, Jon, Joel, Marc, and all of their families. I'm very sorry for your loss! Your mother will always occupy a very warm spot in my heart - I'll never forget her.
