Pauline Koransky, nee Setnetsky, died at the age of 99 on Aug. 4, 2009. Born Perla Setnetsky in Russia in 1909, the eighth of nine siblings, her family emigrated in 1913, eventually settling in Philadelphia. Her schooling culminated in a nursing degree from Temple University, followed by several years of private duty nursing along coastal Northeast. In wartime, she served as a US Army lieutenant. She married Abraham Koranski in 1945 in Hawaii, moving at wars end to Chicago, settling in Highland Park, IL shortly thereafter. She and her husband lived in Morton Grove from 1978-2000, moving to San Jose, CA upon becoming a widow. She was a devoted wife, mother and an accomplished homemaker. She enjoyed shepherding her ever increasing family, baking, traveling on freighter ships, reading, knitting and writing all sorts of letters to editors.
