It's almost a year and it still hurts that you're gone. I know that is selfish, but I do find comfort in knowing you are in a better place and not hurting anymore...
love to you forever my friend

Our favorite memories of Grandpaw...
Grandpaw - "I know a man"
reponse - "what man"
Grandpaw - "the man of who do"
response - "who do?"
Granpaw - "you do"
response - "do what?"
Grandpaw - "I know a man"...
He would say this quicker each time - over and over again
When eating neck bones
"Save the bones for Henry Jones cuz' he don't eat no meat". Save the fat for Mrs. Jones cuz she don't like the bones.
How he called us:
What's up Haus, What cha' need, Son?, Rough Rider, buddy, How's my main man, my men
Miiiiiiiiiccccchhhhhaaaeeeelll!!
Maaaaaaasssssoooonnnnnn!!
Eating ice cream together, stopping for slurpies, going to Jewelers Row downtown and the Flea Market, watching Western movies and poker tournaments, eating your home cookin', picking up the sticks in the yard, dumping the leaves, helping the neighbors, how we could not kiss you on the lips only the cheek..
We miss you!! XOXO

Dear Dad,
What can I say, there's no words to express how lucky I am to have you for my Dad. I'm only sorry our time was so short. I can't say this enough, anyone can become a father, but it takes a great man to be a DAD. They say you should give away the roses while I'm here not when I'm gone. That he did over & over & over to everyone, everywhere. I've heard many things said about my Dad, they are all good. That's what made him great. Never a dull moment. I love you with all my heart, and will miss you something awful. XO Pam

Dearest Ray,
Thinking of all of the tough love you showed me and the conversation we had when I took you out to dinner to do the respectful thing in asking for your daughters hand in marriage. I know that in your own way that you approved. I highly respected you and I know that you knew over that last drink together that I would take care of your "baby" and the boys.
I thank God for knowing you and I can see where Sheila gets some of her traits from. May you be free and restfully sleeping.
Respectfully,
Mike

My strength has been in knowing that he is now peacefully sleeping, he fought hard was surrounded by loved ones until the very end. He repeatedly told me that "he'd be here" (referring to my upcoming December wedding). I knew it was up to God's will though; and I would accept his timing. I learned many, many things from my Dad, one that comes to mind was his Good Samaritianship through simple acts of kindness in Raymonds way, of course. I feel that I am most like him in that respect. The last years of his life we were more of a family than we ever have been and I firmly believe that the boys softened his heart for the Lord. He became a wonderful Grandfather to my sons and taught me not to let all the little things in life bother me. There will always be a special place in my heart for him. Ironically, it is all the little things I will miss the most, his story telling, the sound of his truck starting, how I he had me pick out his outfits, dying and cutting his hair, working the crossword with him and simply our times together being father/daughter and, even his screaming SHEEEEIIIILLLAAAAAAHHHHH up the stairs at me when I had a phone call.
Rest in Peace Dad, I love you!
