Raymond Weber Obituary

Raymond "Ray" Forbes Weber, 67, of Lakeside, MI, passed away on October 15, 2023 after a tragic accident. He was surrounded by his family. He was born on September 8, 1956 in Berkeley, CA. He was a loving husband to Gay Morris Weber and a devoted father to Scott (Rebecca), Brooks, Ross (Lindsay), and Cole Weber.

Ray grew up in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, the youngest of four siblings. He was a graduate of Conestoga High School, Penn State University, and MIT Sloan School of Management. He worked for over three decades in renewable energy financing at Heller Financial and GE Capital, from where he retired in 2015.

Ray also was an active community member in Kenilworth, where he raised his family. He served on the board of the Kenilworth Assembly Hall Association and also NSSRA. He enjoyed bowling with the Kenilworth Men's Bowling League for many years.

Ray loved spending time with family and friends at the lake, taking vacations, and watching sports (especially Penn State football). He was the life of the party, had a big personality, and an incredible sense of humor. Everyone loved to be around him. In recent years, Ray especially embraced his role as a caretaker to Cole. The two of them enjoyed going to local coffee shops, watching movies together, swimming in the pool, and sitting on the beach. Ray was a family man in every aspect, and his final act of generosity was to be an organ donor.

Ray was preceded in death by his father, Hal, mother, Betty, and older brother, Gary. He is survived by his older brother, Dan (Janet), and older sister, Connie Santroch (Jim), and many other extended family members.

A memorial service to celebrate Ray's life will be held at Kenilworth Union Church, 211 Kenilworth Ave, Kenilworth, IL 60043 on Friday, October 20th at 2 pm, with a reception following at Michigan Shores Club, 911 Michigan Ave, Wilmette, IL 60091.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Ray's memory to: The Logan Autism Center, 2505 E Jefferson Blvd, South Bend, IN 46615 Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.

Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman, MI 49106.

Gay, Cheri and I are devastated. It feels so hopeless how fleeting life is. The memorial service was beautiful and so were the kids. All of Tree's PSU class of 78 friends saw Cole wearing his dad's jersey and teared up.

Tree and I kept in touch after graduation when he was in Philly. I thought I'd lose touch when I moved to Atlanta in 86 but lo and behold he met you in 85. We attended your wedding in Birmingham and later that PSU Alabama game in Tuscaloosa, in the rain. I sent him a taped copy of that broadcast that I know he appreciated for years. We only had phone calls until mobile phones and texting. I had just shared some photos with him last fall of a trip to Hilton Head that we took way back when. I can't believe he's gone from our lives.

We're in Virginia now, Williamsburg. If you're ever in the neighborhood, know that you have a friend. Peter Watson 757 -968 -0100

Ray and my brother Brian were close friends for many years, thanks to a mutual friend, David Jones. I would tag along to Penn State to visit Dave from time to time and came to know "the boys" at PSU and love them all like brothers. I will miss Ray dearly; his jokes, smile and friendship. My condolences to Ray's family and friends. Rest in Peace Brother Ray. XO

Ray, or "Jake" as we called each other for some unknown reason back at Sloan, was one of the warmest, most genuine people I have ever known. A "great guy" in every sense. I know he will be missed terribly by his friends and especially by Gay and their family.

I feel terrible to have learned this. Ray was a high school classmate, teammate, and had an enjoyable sense of humor. My sympathy to all who loved and liked him. I will post this site to our class' FB page. I'm sure everyone who knew Ray will feel a sense of loss.
