Richard L. Strauss

Richard L. ''Rick'' Strauss, 53, of Roscoe, IL, died Wednesday Nov. 2, 2005 in the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born January 16, 1952 in Chicago, IL. Son of Lyle Herbert and Elsie Frapolly Strauss. Rick was a graduate of Main East High School in Park Ridge, IL and Augustana College where he was a member of the Omicran Sigma Fraternity. He married Janis ''Jan'' Lambert on March 19, 1977 in Davenport, IA. Rick was employeed by Fairbanks Morse and Company in Beloit, WI for 22 years, holding various positions. Growing up Rick was a Boy Scout and attaining Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow. He continued to be a scout advisor and was involved in Junior Achievement and APICS (American Production Inventory Control Society). Rick and his wife started a craft business, which his wife continues to run. He enjoyed playing on the Fairbanks Morse softball and bowling teams but his passion was golf. He especially loved his dogs Keenan, Kody and Jax. Survivors include his wife Jan Strauss of Roscoe, IL; two daughters, Erika Strauss of Belleire Bluffs, FL and Leslie Strauss of Bartlett, IL; his mother, Elsie Strauss of Des Plaines, IL; in-laws, William and Lolla Faye of Grand Mound, IA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Keith and Linda Jessen; many aunts, uncles, cousins, family friends and co-workers. He was predeceased by his father. Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005 in the Daley Murphy & Wisch and Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI with Fr. Robert Setmeyer officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family which will be designated at a later date.
