Richard Wojcik

1938 - 2014

Richard T Wojcik passed away on January 23, 2014, in Naples, FL - due to complications from a brain tumor. He is survived by his loving wife Debbie Wojcik, his sister Judy Glatz, and three children - Rick Wojcik, Erika Genolio, and Kirsten Wojcik. Richard was born in Chicago on December 8, 1938 to Jane and Joseph Wojcik - and grew up in the Roseland neighborhood on the city's south side. While attending Mendel High School (class of 1956), he worked part time in the mail room at Pullman Bank, and eventually received a scholarship to attend St Mary's College in Winona, MN (class of 1960). He also served in the Army Reserve from 1961 to 1967. After college, he returned to the bank, where he worked days as a teller, and some nights as a "repo man" - doing collections of cars and other collateral used to secure defaulted loans. He continued to work hard for many years, and was chosen president of Heritage County Bank in 1970. In the mid 80s, he formed Heritage Financial Services, which grew to encompass a number of south suburban banks over the course of the next decade or so - before its eventual purchase by First Midwest. Richard was an avid golfer and skier, a great father, and a wonderful friend to many - and he continued to have a great sense of humor even in his final days. In lieu of a funeral, a memorial party will take place on February, 15 at 5pm, at Midlothian Country Club - in Midlothian, IL. All who knew him and were touched by him are invited.
