Dear Chrisann, Jamie,Mike,Dan,Bill,Terry and Tom--Your mom and I met in the early 1950s which as you know began a life long friendship. We partyed, picnicked, played and had a whole lot of fun together for many years while you seven along with the Rogan, Coughlin and Cavanagh kids were growing up. While the years flew bye and there was less togetherness, that can't ever diminish the great memories of and the love we have for Rita, your mom! God bless her and all of you from the Cavanaghs.

It's hard to imagine the future without Rita Cullen. I feel so honored to have been a friend of hers for nearly 15 years, I only wish we had 15 more. Rita was an amazing woman, as most of Palatine already knew. It was a beautiful sight to see all of her family, friends and neighbors at her wake and funeral. Rita loved parades, and that was one awesome parade in her honor. Her spirit and spunk will go on forever, you can see it in her kids and grandchildren, she had a great zest for life and no matter how bad things would get, she always made them fun. Rita is a great example of how we should all try to live life to the fullest. Her stories and memories will go on for ever, and they will always bring a smile to our faces.
Prayers and Love to all of the Cullen's.

I extend my sincerest condolences to the Cullen family for your loss. Living just a few houses down from the Cullen family on Patten Drive, I maintained a strong respect for Rita Cullen. When you lose some one, your life changes, and it’s never really the same again. So you make a new life, and you make it the very best you can. Rita Cullen exemplified this experience. I believe her memory and example will live on for a very long time.

I have such great memories of your mom. She had such a sweet, funny, and wonderful way about her. She always made me feel so special. At the age of five, I remember, she was the first one I wanted to go to to show off my new slippers. I remember her saying how fancy they looked! I was mighty proud of those slippers and she made me feel like a little princess. God bless Rita for her wonderful spirit that touched so many.

Cullen "kids"...I thought the world of your mom. I have so many memories of you guys living down the street in Palatine. I remember your mom would ring the bell on the porch to round you all up for dinner! It wasn't until I was older that I realized what a strong woman she was and such a wonderful mother. I stayed at your house one weekend when my parents were out of town and your mom helped me get ready for my first date. I was in 7th grade and very nervous as it was also my first school dance. Your dear mother was so kind to me...I've never forgotten. During my early 20s I stopped by your place on Patten Drive. It was a hot summer night and we had a long chat. I loved her sense of humor, winning personality and warm smile--such a great laugh too! Your mom was one of those special people that I'll never forget. I'm grateful for having known her. She was the best!

Dear Cullen kids, your mom was the stalwart matriarch of your wonderful family. I still marvel at her deft ability to keep the whole show running with mirth and good humor. Now, like my dad just a month ago, she is at peace in the thunderous silence...
