ROBERT BELL Obituary

Robert B. Bell, a Winnetka resident for 50 years, born August 25, 1929 in Detroit, MI. He died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010 in Evanston, IL. He is survived by his wife Jean, nee Benjamin; two sons, Kevin and Scott (Kathlene) Bell; grandchildren, Maddy K. Bell, Grace Karen Bell and Caleb A. Tindall; a brother, William Bell and sister Elizabeth Jacobs. He taught chemistry at New Trier Twp. High School in Winnetka from 1958-1993. He influenced the lives of over 3,500 students during his tenure. He was an avid gardener, as well as being an amateur photographer. He loved sailing his Sunfish in Lake Michigan for many summers. His family remembers the more than 15 years he took us camping to Wisconsin, Maine, Michigan, Kentucky, Colorado, Wyoming and the memorable six-week trip from Illinois to California and back - with stops at many National Parks along the way. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Evanston where he served as a childcare volunteer, an Elder, Bible study teacher and on many retreats as "Mr. Coffee," among other activities. A Service of Remembrance will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 in the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of Evanston, 1427 Chicago Avenue, Evanston, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grand Teton National Park Foundation, P.O. Box 249, Moose, WY 83012 or online at www.gtnpf.org (Ways to Give) in memory of Robert B. Bell.
