Marion and I were so sorry that illness kept us from the services. We've been so fond of Bob through our memebership in the Combine, Combine trips and dinners with the Fosses and even Carleton College (but not at the same time). It has been a wonderful friendship and will be very much missed. Our condolences are with Bob's family and Betty.

Steve, Marnie, and John and all of the respective families. Mr. Gielow will always be remembered. He was a titan of kindness and influential in the lives of all of us Original Boys in Cub Scout Den 24. We love you all and are with you as you celebrate the life of such a wonderful man.

We are thinking of you, Mrs. Bryan, during this sad time. We never had the chance to meet Mr. Gielow but had heard many nice things about him from Dan & John. Our thoughts are with you and the rest of the family.

My grandparents, Kazar and Lucy Dabaghian, and mother, Anna Dabaghian, were Armenians who immigrated to America. Settling in Chicago, they lived by and worshipped at Erie Chapel, Erie Neighborhood House, while continuing to appreciate their ancestral heritage. I am first generation American, bilingual, who luckily was infant baptized at Erie, met and knew Robert Gielow's mother, Evangeline. I am now a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church. May God Bless the memories of Robert's parents, who did so much for us, and of Robert, who continued his parents' legacies.

I mourn the passing of a great man to whom I owe a lot. Working directly for him when he was Chairman of the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board, I had the opportunity to learn many life and business lessons. He was always most kind and generous to me -- he helped me through a difficult period in my life. A special place in my heart will always be filled with pleasant memories of Mr. Gielow.

John, Marnie & Steve,
Your dad was always smiling! I admired that about him. Even as things got harder for him to do on his own he always radiated optimism. He was a such a good man! He will be greatly missed. You are in our prayers!
