As a former Northern Trust officer and friend of Bob, I am saddened by his passing. His passion for doing the right thing and asking each of us what we could do "for the good of the order" set a standard of commitment and ethics that set him apart from others. His counsel and positive attitude will be missed by all who had the good fortune to count him as a friend.

To Mary, Emily, and all the Reusche family, Frank and I send you our deepest sympathy for your loss of a wonderful husband and father. We had the pleasure of knowing Bob Reusche only through stories passed on to us by our son Michael Lavelle who greatly admired Mr. Reusche. Those stories tell us that Bob Reusche had the multi-faceted talents to stir up in the hearts of others a love of God, a delight in people, a joy in humor, and a contentment in generosity. The world will miss him. May he join the angels and the saints, and may you find comfort in the Lord's healing love.

Dear Mary, Emily, Anne, Alec and the entire family,
I am so sorry for your deep loss! It is my deepest wish that your anguish be healed now that Bob is at peace and free from pain. No words I might conjure can express how much I –and many others—adored Bob. Sitting here at the Foundation's office I look around and see nearly every space touched by him and every project infused with his ceaseless spirit of giving. Bob always demonstrated the utmost care and concern for the welfare of people. Seeing him each day in the office was truly a gift. Moreover, due to Bob's passion for trains and the rail system, he will forever receive credit for steering my son, Gabriel, into the field of engineering. There is a big hole in the world with the loss of Bob. I believe that his greatest gift to each of us is as a teacher and together we can each carry forth his message of giving back to others. With love and affection, Susan

With much love and affection,

Bob's life not only touched the countless in need that he dedicated his life to serving but those of us who were so blessed to have known and worked with him. I will always remember his ever present smile and prudent guidance as we worked towards our constant common goal of helping others.

Through his life's passion of helping others, Bob will forever stand as THE example of how to help others in need. As one of greatest individuals I have ever met, he taught me, as well as so many others, that we must help others every day and not to waste our time with fanfare or the minutia of life that often gets in the way of accomplishing great things. His business was helping others with a kind smile, a warm hand and seemingly boundless generosity.

The people of Lake County were blessed to count him as one of our own and his love and dedication to those in need will forever be missed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and it is my hope that Mary and the rest of Bob's loved ones can take some comfort in knowing that his life served for the betterment of thousands, if not tens of thousands of people -- most of whom he never met. Bob just wanted to leave this earth a little better than he found it.

As always, Bob exceed his goal many, many times over.

Bob, I will always love you and try and teach my children the many lessons you taught me.
