ROBERT SOBLE Obituary

Robert N. Soble, born March 28, 1928, Died June 16, 2012 grew up on Bittersweet Place in the Lakeview district, and spent his life in the Chicago area. His father, Aaron Soble, was an attorney. Robert became an Eagle Scout (1942), and served in WWII (1946-48), spending part of his duty in Japan. After the war he received a B.A. in the Teaching of Social Studies from the University of Illinois (1951), followed by an M.A. in the same subject (1956). Mr. Soble was retired from 32 years of service with the US Postal Service (1992). He was predeceased by his father, Aaron Soble; mother, Dorothy nee Turk; sister, Naomi Soble Risdon; and his fraternal twin brother, actor Ron Soble. He is survived by a niece, Laura Soble, of El Cerrito, CA as well as two grand-nephews. Special thanks to his physicians, including Drs. Slott, Leong, Vyas, and Feingold, who provided him with excellent care for many years. He enjoyed time in retirement socializing in the cafeteria at St. Joseph's Hospital, as well as in the Central Savings Bank near Diversey. Thanks to the staff of The Grove in Lincoln Park for providing him with respectful care and conversation these past few years, as well as the staff of Horizon Hospice.
