Roger Stefany Obituary

Stefany, Roger Alan Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Roger Alan Stefany, died in Middleton, WI, on October 6, 2013, at 84 years. Roger was born in Fox River Grove, IL, to Henry and Lillian Stefany. He and his sister, Dorothy, were raised in Winnetka, IL. He graduated from New Trier High School and Northwestern University with a degree in business. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and then became an investment broker, mainly in Chicago. Roger served and benefited a great many investors, both large and small, and was trusted in his work and in his friendships. During this time, Roger and his first wife, Suzanne, lived in Wilmette, IL, and raised two sons, John and Stuart. John and his partner, David Odenbach, live in Washington, D.C. Stuart, his wife, Ann, and their daughter, Anya, live in Waukegan, IL. John is a project manager for NPR, and Stuart is an artist and middle school teacher. Roger and his sons camped with the Boy Scouts, and Roger and Suzanne were active in church and community service until her death in 1989. A few years later, Roger married Janice Jourdan. After 43 years with the same firm, he retired. They chose to live in Madison, and enjoyed touring the U.S., Canada and Great Britain. In keeping with Roger's request, there will be no service now. Janice and his family celebrate his life by remembering his good-natured, loving ways, and keen sense of humor. If his friends wish to remember him, he especially supported the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60707.

Dear Janice, My sincere condolences to you and your extended family on your loss. I will always remember Roger's stories about camping with John and Stuart and their engagement with the Boy Scouts. His humor and great wit will not be forgotten. I will particularly remember his favorite phrase, "Richard, it's time to do some mischief today". He was a pleasure to work with.My thoughts and prayers are with you and his family.
