S.M. NAKI JAFEREY

S.M. Naki Jaferey, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on July 15, 2014. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family both here and abroad. Naki was born in Hyderabad, India in 1937 and immigrated to the United States in 1974. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mehdi and Fatima Jaferey. He is survived by his beloved wife, Zafar Jehan, his son Imran M. Jaferey of Boston, his daugher Ahmarin “Beena” (Carey) White of Memphis, his daughter Syeda “Sheena” (Michael) Grigsby of Houston, his son M. Hussain of Memphis, his brother Zaki of Karachi, Pakistan, his brother Ali of London, England, his sister Najma Khizir of Karachi, his brother Asad Kazmi of Memphis, his sister Noori of Karachi, scores of loving nieces and nephews from around the world, and his seven grandchildren who, like their parents, called him “Baba,” Nadia and Alex of Boston; Natacha, Mischa and Dennis of Memphis; and Lia and Zoe of Houston. Naki graduated from Arkansas State University in 1978. He served as a pharmaceutical salesperson for his entire career and was a multi-year member of the Bayer Pharmaceutical President’s Club. Naki was also a founding member of the Al Rasool Islamic Center in Bartlett. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Madonna Learning Center or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in his memory.
