Scott Braverman Obituary

Scott Harvey Braverman age 65. Born October 31, 1951 in Chicago and passed away July 28, 2017. Beloved husband of Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Braverman nee Boyer for 19 years. Devoted father of Benjamin Jerome and Natalie Eva. Loving son of the late Jerome and Florence Braverman. Dear brother of Gail Segal and Starr Fenn. Special brother-in-law of Donald Segal. Son-in-law of the late Peter and Eva Boyer. Brother-in-law of the late David Boyer. He is survived and missed by sisters-in-law Suzanne (Robert) Hobart and Patricia Boyer, his nephews Robert and Adam, niece Gretchen, great-nephew Jonah, and many cousins and friends from Chicago and California. Scott graduated Niles West High School and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Scott managed his family owned business Century Corporation/Kidzone, which operated vending machines and kiddie rides throughout the country. He was a serial entrepreneur with a history of many startup ventures including Gear Works in Laguna Beach, CA., the pool hall/restaurant venue Lucky's, the restaurant Affair and most recently a high-speed rail consulting business. The many friends he made during his ventures remained with him for his entire life. Scott outlived the odds associated with brain cancer. He fought hard and was sweet, kind, strong and continued to live his life with grace. His friends and family meant everything. Scott's heartfelt saying, "the comfort of old friends and the possibility of meeting new friends is the joy of life" often lead his social communications. Our family is grateful to all who joined, cared, helped and supported whether in person or in your thoughts. Scott would thank you all for your love and friendship. It was a beautiful life. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment private. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Scott's name to the American Brain Tumor Association, www.abta.org or the Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute, BrainTumorInstitute.org would be appreciated. Loss of a Friend,

Scott was one of my best friends in the vending machine industry. I was also around to enjoy his ride on the wave at Lucky's He was an astute, knowledgeable man.

Being with Scott was fun, enjoyable and at the same time a learning experience about all aspects of life. Now, how could you not want to be around a gentleman who had those qualities? Just his laugh brought joy.

The last time I saw Scott was in Miami when he just beginning his family. You could feels his joy and happiness and I felt this was the greatest peace of mind and joy I had ever seen him experience.

Like he told me the last time I spoke with him, don't feel sorry for him, he had lived a great life. Well Scott I will listen to your words but we all feel sorry and sad because you are truly loved and we will miss you in so many ways, but family and friends will move forward in a positive manner as you would have wanted us to. Until the end you were always teaching.

God Bless you my friend!

I was so sorry to hear of Scott passing away. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. I had known Scott during my tenure with the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was a staunch supporter of passenger rail service but more importantly I considered him a good friend. He will be missed!

When I arrived in Chicago in 1998 my cousin Betsy introduced me to her fiance Scott. It seemed like he knew everyone in Chicago. I had never met anyone so connected and so willing to share those connections. Not only the life of the party, but the instigator, planner and closer of the party. He will be missed by so many.
