Mr. Baum was my fifth grade teacher. I loved him very much. He taught me so much in the short time that I knew him. He was always there to hear me out. Always a kind smile and giving the class interesting facts. I learned abour arctic expeditions and what frostbite looked like from textbooks in his class. He passed on his love of white castle and coke zeros to me. He made me student of the month and when I asked him about it, he said "why of course, who told you?". He made me feel like I was smart and capable of many things and he always was kind and wise. He made me, a little Mexican immigrant girl, feel like a smart cookie. He liked soduku and he introduced me to the wonders of wikipedia. I remember helping him put up posters with some putty in his fifth grade classroom and he asked me how the posters looked. When I first heard of the news, my mom was the one who told me. I was crushed and devastated... He was and will always be dear to my heart and I will never, ever forget him. I can't wait to see you again in heaven Mr. Baum ❤ your student, Gaby.

"Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."
Sergio was a very sweet, kind, and genuine person. Sergio kept us awake and alert during our Friday and Saturday classes with his wit and humor. Words cannot describe how deeply sadden we are by his passing. My prayers are with you and your family.

I am extremely saddened to hear about the passing of a colleague and friend. Anyone who was fortunate enough to have know Sergio, as I did, was lucky to have known a person who was intelligent, funny, and an all around decent man. He will be missed. My thoughts and prays go out to his family and friends.

To Darlys and Family,
Words cannot begin to express the great shock and deep sadness and loss I feel in learning of Sergio’s passing away. What a wonderful, intelligent and caring man he was! I had the pleasure of meeting and knowing Sergio in our graduate studies through GSU over the past two years. He had a beautiful spirit, a zest for life and a genuine care and concern for others. He was the kind of friend that we all enjoyed being around. With his positive energy, you always knew when he entered the room. He had a uniquely outgoing and fun loving personality that drew others to him. All of us had a lot of good times with Sergio and a lot of laughs together during our Friday evening and Saturday morning classes over the last two years. These are some of my fondest memories of Sergio. I will truly miss him. My deepest sympathy to you and the entire Baum Family at this time of great loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I met Sergio as his professor at the Govs. St. Cohort. In our brief encounters he impressed me as a bight, articulate, upbeat guy with a great sense of humor. I can share many of his comments posted on our classroom discussion boards. These, I am sure, are some of his last correspondences to his classmates and friends. If you would like these please email me

I am so sorry to hear of Sergio's death. We have been classmates for the past two years in a graduate program at El Valor/GSU. He was one of the most sincere persons I had ever met. He was quick to compliment and encourage others. He truly added to our cohort and he will be remembered fondly. I will miss him.

I am shocked and sorry to here of Sergio's death. We worked together at Kelly and studied at Governor's State. I know I speak for all who were in our adminstrative cohort at GSU when I say that he was a great resource to us and could be counted on to brighten our class with his humor. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family members.

We are so saddened by the news of Sergio's passing. He was a spirited and good-hearted friend with a good sense of humor and a wide range of interests. We have had the honor of knowing him and his wife, Darlys, for more than 20 years. He has died much too soon, and the loss will be felt tremendously. Darlys and Sergio's family will be in our prayers and hearts now and in coming days.
