I like to remember Grandma when we were younger. Laughing at all of the grandchildren when we'd play football in the hallway, telling Mike to quit beating me or Doug or Amanda up. Coming with Grandpa to watch my football or basketball games (they didn't like soccer). And of course hosting Christmas every year. We were always so excited to go over to Grandma and Grandpa's house for any holiday or birthday. I remember she was a great cook and thought her and my mom could open a restaurant together. As I've gotten older I now appreciate what my Grandma has endured and sacrificed. By the time she was my age she had experienced a husband away in a world war, living in an internment camp, very little money, and 4 children. 4 kids!!! Even though times were sometimes tough, she handled it all with beauty, dignity and always a smile on her face. While I'll miss Grandma, I know it was her time and she's in a better place.
Love, Phil
