Suzanne Pretzel

Pretzel, Suzanne Phyllis Nee: Yohler, age 76 of Poplar Grove, Illinois former 45 year resident of Oak Park, Illinois passed away on Saturday evening May 7, 2011 at Maple Crest Nursing Home in Belvidere, Illinois. She was born December 16, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Robert and Esther (Kremm) Yohler. She graduated from Broad Ripple High School, Indianapolis, Indiana class of 1952. She earned her BS & MS in Art History from Indiana University. Suzanne taught K-8 art at Mann School in Oak Park and subbed in South Berwyn. She was a 45 year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood (Philanthropic Education Organization)-Women helping women reach for the stars through education. She was the loving wife of 49 years to Hugo Charles Pretzel. Beloved mother of Heidi Ann Pretzel Paulius (Tomas) of Naperville and Holly Lynn Pretzel Lockwood (William) of Poplar Grove. Adored grandmother of Allison Jane Paulius. Treasured sister of Anita Yohler Baldwin (the late William) of St. Louis, Missouri. Dear sister-in-law of Leona Daniels Pretzel (the late Ralph) of Mt. Prospect and Phyllis Pretzel Grillo (Victor) of Las Vegas, Nevada. Loving aunt of six and great aunt of five. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 4:30 P.M. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Knox Presbyterian Church, 1105 Catalpa Lane, Naperville, Illinois. Rev. Cindy Karis, officiating. Private inurnment will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indianain the family lot. In lieu of flowers memorials contributions can be made to the P.E.O. Lulu Corkhill Williams Friendship Fund c/o Teresa Laughlin- P.E.O. IL State Treasurer, 149 Wing Foot Dr., Springfield, IL 62704 or to a local food pantry would be appreciated.
