Mrs. Gloodt was my principal at Sward many many years ago and one of the first people to make me feel safe in a new environment after moving halfway across the world. I was different, but she helped me embrace my differences when I felt embarrassed or out of place. She made a whole day out of bringing my grandma in with traditional outfits and artifacts and teaching the kids in my grade about Burma, where I’m from. It helped them understand me a little better and it helped me feel like I actually belonged. I’m so grateful that I got to know her and her amazing heart of gold. Thank you for everything Mrs. Gloodt. May the angels lead you in. Sending condolences to your entire family.

Lori (Mrs Gloodt) was a kind, patient principal at Sward. My children all attended the school under her leadership and had the utmost respect for her, as did my husband and myself. She always had time to speak to parents and address any issues. She was a special person and will be deeply missed.

So very sad to learn of this family’s loss of such a wonderful lady. My 4 children had the benefit of Mrs. Gloodt’s love & caring expertise as principal for all of their formative elementary school years. Her high standards were responsible for the truly excellent staff and superb balance of fun and learning. Working with her through the PTA and school board allowed my husband and me to see the special gifts she shared with the Sward community up close. She had to make the tough choices at times for the good of the her beloved school as any leader must, but always had solid reasons with the ultimate good of “her kids” at the forefront.
Very sad to hear of her many health battles....I have no doubt that she faced them as she approached her career.....head-on with amazing strength & resilience. The lives of so very many have benefited from the solid, loving experiences and examples you provided.....thank you from the Murray family!
God bless you, Lori, and may you Rest In Peace among your fellow angels!

Rest in peace, Lori. When I worked for her, my sister was watching my son at the time and they had gotten into a car accident. I had just walked into work and it was (of all days) parent-teacher conference day. I will never forget it. As I saw her walking toward me down the hall as I was arriving, she had a look on her face that made me think I had done something wrong. Well, she made me sit down, told me about the accident and then insisted that she drive me to the hospital. I asked about the conferences and she told me that they will cancel them all and I can do them another day. Not only did she drive me to the hospital, she sat there with me and kept me calm. My sister and son were fine, thank goodness. But, I will never, ever, forget Lori's kindness. She was an excellent boss and Principal. She always expected the best from all of us and helped us in every way. Now that I am a Principal, I look back at her example and remember her leadership qualities. She was an inspiration to me and many others. Rest in Peace, Lori....until we meet again. My condolences to her husband and children. I know that she was very proud of all of you.

"One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank or what my clothes looked like- but the world will be a little better because I was important in the life of a child."
This was the poster that hung on the wall the day I walked into the office at Sward School. Lori Gloodt had just started there as our Principal. This poster gave me a pretty good idea of the character of who our new principal was.
I was the mom of 3 young girls who were excited to have a woman as their principal. She was a great role model to all of our children at Sward. She was so visible to me as a parent, outside before & after school watching for the safety of our kids, offering a smile & a wave.
She was so amazing at knowing names! The kids faces just beaming that she knew who they were. That they were important. As a parent this made me feel my children were safe in her care at school.
On my youngest daughter's last day at Sward I went into the office to say good-bye. The tears just streamed down my face. I would miss Sward & all of the people that made this school so special-especially Mrs. Gloodt. She was important in the lives of so many children & their parents too! Thank you Lori! You will be missed- but not forgotten.

With love,

My deepest condolences to the Gloodt family.
Mrs. Gloodt was a very special person. The connections between her students and herself were based on love and a sincere care for each situation. She was stern when it was required but always in the best interest of the situation. My children were lucky to attend Sward school under her tutelage. I was lucky to get to know Lori as a person through working and volunteering at Swardduring my children's time there.
Your family is in my prayers. I hope that your wonderful memories can help ease your pain.

Lori Gloodt was one of the most amazing women I have ever had the honor of calling a friend. I was just telling someone last Thursday how wonderfully amazing she was!
We, especially my now adult children were so saddened to hear of her passing. There is certainly a special place in Heaven reserved for her alone.
May the Gloodt family feel God’s love and peace wrapped around each one of them during this difficult time.
God Speed Lori! Until we meet again!! (Tell Mary and Maria hello for the rest of us Sward moms!)

Mrs Gloodt was like family for all 15 years our 3 girls were at Sward. She was a great balance of firm but loving. She had a positive impact on our entire community.

A great memory is how during Sward Bingo nights the students could win a pizza lunch with her, and every time they did the whole gym full of students and families would yell out “pizza with the principal!”

We will forever have very fond memories of her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.
