Tom will be sadly missed. He was a brilliant Civil Right's attorney. My Civil Right's practice benefited from his always being there when I had a question. If it was an evening or weekend, Tom would take the time to get back to me. I will never forget Tom's kindness. My heart goes out to Tom's family.

I will never forget Tom's kindness to my daughter, Grace, when her own father died two years ago. Truly a wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers are with Tom's children, particularly Izzy.

Tom, I love you and I thank God for you. I'll never forget the first time we met; We sat in your office, you looked at me with those serious steel blue eyes and told me "I think I'll take this case." Over the next 6 yrs, I watched as you, Kevin & Julie dispell the lies told about my son to bring some form of resolution to our family. Thank you for your professionalism and tact. I know that I'll see you again some day, and please tell my son I said 'Hello'. By now I'm sure he has thanked you himself for what you did for his mama. This is the sum of what you lived before me.

Unfortunately, I did not have much time to get to know Tom. He was my cousin but distance and age were contributing factors. I have learned about the Peters family through my father, Edward T. Peters. He spoke about the love, strength and kindness of each child. Each child had become their own unique person. Tom the eldest took over the role without hesitation.
So in my eyes Tom's family was his strength, his work, his passion but fatherhood was the priceless gift which he cherished until the end.
God has another Peters' angel to help watch over us and guide us.

Tom would tell you his five greatest accomplishments are Cassandra,Robert,Kaitlyn,Maura andTatum.I agree all unique and none travel the easy roads.Tom chose a hard road. The law.Until you need a lawyer you can't understand what they do.I was lucky enough to have a brother that took me to court and explained that what you hear on the TV and Radio isn"t always the truth. That some people Lie to make an arrest and others will blindly obey to convict a person.Tom fought to end those things .Tall order for the oldest of six kids from a little house in Matteson.

My Father is in Heaven right now. And if Heaven is anything special it is the Old Course at St. Andrews and he is playing golf with my Uncle Dan. I Love You, Pops.
The Eagle doesn't need to land; I will always know that it is looking out for me everyday for the rest of my life.

It was one of the great strokes of good fortune in my life when Tom and I became roommates in our college dorm in 1967. There followed 44 years of great friendship. I am flooded with fond memories covering all parts of our lives across all of these years. I will always treasure these memories. I could not have had a better friend, and I will miss him deeply.

Of the thousands of lawyers I have known over the 50 years of my practice, I have never known a better lawyer than Tom, nor a lawyer more willing to aid another in any way he could. I shall miss him....Sam Adam, Sr.

I met Tom - and Kevin and Rick and Mary - when they moved into the building I used to manage. What a wonderful, genuinely nice, kind, funny man. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. I have to go cry now.

Tom's brother Kevin probably said it best; The world did indeed lose a class act. He is surely now playing a game of one on one with brother Dan while patriarch, Robert, stands vigil to keep those boys 'honest'. My sincere condolences to the Peters family during this most difficult time.

Tom Peters was one of the finest men and finest lawyers we've known.
We did many stories about cases he championed. He cared about the rights of people, fought relentlessly for the underdogs of the world, and brought victories to clients who had never had victory in their lives.
It was an honor to know him.
