Rev. Walter F. Somerville Jr., 77, Pastor Emeritus of St. Edna Parish in Arlington Heights, died of a stroke on July 20, 2004 in Tucson. Fr. Somerville was born May 31, 1927 in Chicago, attended Loyola Academy and following completion of studies and his S.T.L. from St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein, was ordained into the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Chicago on May 1, 1953. He served as Associate Pastor at St. Mary of the Woods Parish in Chicago, St. Mary's Parish in Evanston and Our Lady of the Wayside in Arlington Heights, before being named Pastor of St. Edna Parish in 1981. Later, Fr. Somerville served as Associate Pastor of St. Isaac Jogues Parish in Niles until his retirement in 1992, when he moved to Tucson. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be Thursday, July 29 from 3 until 9 p.m. and The Mass of the Resurrection on Friday, July 30 at 11 a.m. at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 8149 Golf Rd., Niles, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Casa Maria Mission, 401 E. 26th Street, Tucson, AZ 85713. Remembering Father Walt in my prayers. I have many pleasant memories of Father Walt at our family gatherings in Chicago,and in particular the time he showed us his movies of a trip to Rome andthe Vatican. He was well loved.

My condolences on the death of Fr. Walt. I have some very fond memories of him from our time together at St. Isaac Jogues in Niles. Unfortunately, I am out of town and will be unable to attend his wake and funeral. Please know that he wil be in my prayers.
