Mrs. Quaal, Graham, and Jennifer:
Mr. Quaal and my Dad grew up together in Ishpeming. They kept in close contact through the years, writing letters to each other almost on a weekly basis. Although I never had the opportunity to meet you, I had lunch with Mr. Quaal several years ago, and enjoyed the time I was able to spend with him.
My deepest condolences on the loss of your Husband and Father.

On behalf of Ward's WGN Radio Family, I would like to express our sincere condolences to Dorothy, Graham and Jennifer - as well as to the rest of his family and his many friends.

Yesterday's service beautifully honored a great leader, ambassador and a true gentleman - Ward possessed those qualities, and many more.

Ward's legacy lives on through those he touched by example, and through his teaching and encouragement. Ward's gift to future generations will continue through the example he set as a role model for professionalism, respect, manners, dignity and grace.

On a more personal note... Thank you, Ward, for your inspiration, kindness and friendship.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Quaal.

As friend and co-author of our broadcast management books, I was privileged to work with Ward for over 35 years. He was a firm supporter and gracious colleague, as well as mentor--reflecting his always courteous and thoughtful concern for his professional staffs and peers in broadcasting, academe, and highest levels of government. He was always the gentleman, well-spoken, and sensitive to everyone with whom he came in contact. In a word, Ward Quaal stood for "Quaality."

The Jesuits of the Chicago and Detroit Provinces wish to express their deepest condolences to all of Ward’s family and friends. He will continue to be remembered daily in their prayers and good works. Ward was a cherished Companion of the Jesuits on the journey of faith and service, “Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.”

Jenny,

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your dad was one of the nicest people, and both of your folks were just wonderful to us as neighbors. Oak Hill is a little poorer in spirit now. Please take care and let me know if I can do anything at all.
