William E. Harder, age 84 of Chicago passed away peacefully on the morning of October 30, 2014. Retired Motion Picture Executive, Multi-Media producer and U.S. Air Force Veteran. Beloved husband of the late Frances Mary nee Metelko; loving father of Janice Mary (Ron) Mitchell of Toronto, Canada, Christine Ann Harder (Diana Alejandro) of Los Angeles, CA and Mark William Harder of Brooklyn, NY; proud grandfather of Frances, Lincoln and Sarah Mitchell of Toronto, Canada; dear brother of the late Dan (late Mary Lou) Harder of River Forest, IL; fond Uncle of Eva, Danny, Nikki, Lisa and their families; beloved friend of Fr. Simon Braganza, Art Styzen and Amelia Hennighausen. Visitation Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 6250 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago. Funeral Monday, November 3, 2014. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. followed by procession to St. Tarcissus Church, 6020 West Ardmore Avenue, Chicago, Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment at Maryhill Cemetery (chapel), Niles will follow. Mr. Harder was a great man, and will be missed by all. He was someone who welcomed me into his home with open arms, and although I was miles away from home made me feel at home. All that he has done for me these past few years will forever be in my heart.

Our condolences and prayers are with Mr.Harder's family in this difficult time. We owe a great deal to Mr.Harder - he opened his home and his heart to our son Nihal and gave him a home away from home during his school breaks. We were at peace when Nihal spent time with Mr.Harder, knowing that he was in good hands.
We will always remember our interactions with Mr.Harder, his warm hospitality, his sense of humor and his strong sense of independence. Mr.Harder, we will miss you.

Will was a great guy. I met him while volunteering for Opera In Focus. He was always happy and smiling and very tech savvy. It was a pleasure to chat with him and see his creativity at work. I often thought of him and will continue to do so. My thoughts are for his family.
