William Kiefer Obituary

William F. Kiefer, passed away peacefully at his home in Lockport, IL on November 10, 2003 with his family by his side. Born December 20, 1929 in Chicago, IL, he attended St. Justin Martyr Grade School, Chicago, IL, St. Rita High School (1947) Chicago, IL, and Lewis University, Lockport, IL (1956). A veteran of the Korean War and retired from Caterpillar in 1992. Survived by his wife, Karen, nee Staples, Kiefer; and children, Kristine (Mark) Mackey of Long Beach, IN; Steven (Fina) Kiefer of Kenai, AK; Elizabeth (Clayton) Gilbert of Lockport, IL; James (Dinah) Kiefer of Oak Park, IL and David Kiefer of Berwyn, IL: beloved grandfather of Marc, Kathryn, Erin and Justin Mackey, William and Carolyn Kiefer, Kristin and Clayton Gilbert, Christopher, Megan, Teru and Elizabeth Kiefer and Valerie, Victoria, Veronica and Alex Kiefer; great-grandchild, Patrick Kirby; also survived by brothers, Joe (JoAnn) Kiefer of Oak Park, IL and Fred Kiefer of Bloomington, MN; sister, Sr. Justin Kiefer of Our Lady of Victory Noll Missionaries, Huntington, IN; brothers-in-law, Laurence Staples of Makanda, IL, Robert Staples of Lake San Marcos, CA; sisters-in-law, Francis (Marshall) Meyer of Lockport, IL and Amy (Phillip) Laurin of Dahinda, IL and many beloved nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Frederick (1975) and Helen (1974), nee Malbeuf, Kiefer; and son William F. Kiefer (1972). Visitation Wednesday, November 12, 2003 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St. in Lockport. Services at 9 a.m. Thursday, Novemeber 13, 2003 at Goodale Memorial Chapel to Cathedral of St. Raymond's for 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with the Very Rev. Joe Tapella officiating. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. Memorials to a charity of personal choice, appreciated. Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St., Lockport, 815-838-1533.
