Christopher Staas Obituary

CHRISTOPHER THOMAS STAAS Christopher Thomas Staas was born on August 22, 1964 in Sacramento, CA. Growing up in Grass Valley, Chris explored opportunities in animal husbandry as he was involved in 4-H and FFA raising his own sheep and living on a ranch with his family. After high school, Chris became a student at Sierra College and later transferred to CSU, Chico majoring and graduating in Ag Business. He became an accomplished fabricator and welder and was a valuable employee at Metal Air Ironworks, where he was involved in projects such as the Getty Museum, Genentech, Copia Museum, Hewlett Packard, Disneyland, the Ronald McDonald house at UC Davis, and the George Lucas Ranch as well as many other large projects. Chris met Kathleen McGowan and in 1995 their son Andrew Michael Staas was born. Kathleen and Chris were soulmates together until her passing in 1997. Chris fabricated and manufactured many large scale metal projects as Christoper Staas and Son Wrought Metal Art, which have been installed in various locations around the Chico area. Just recently Chris completed University of California, Davis Project Management program and was looking to start a new career. Chris is survived by Andrew Michael Staas of Chico, Kathy Short of Lincoln, Lynette and Louis Lester of North San Juan, and his beloved mother Marilyn Engelking of Auburn, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Chris was a lively, spirited man who was loyal and a devoted father as well as caring friend who shared his passion for life with his loved ones and will be missed by many. Peace Out Chris
