Stephen Thomas Staas of Springfield, Missouri passed away June 4th, 2025, at Evelyns House in Creve Coeur, Missouri. Steve was the third born of five sons on February 4th, 1962, in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was a graduate from Central High School of Springfield, Missouri. Steve served in the United States Army as a Combat Telecommunications Center Operator after his Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, SC. and Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Gordon, Ga. He was proud, often talked about and enjoyed his assignment to Germany. His service during the cold war resulted in the Army Service Award, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Expert Badge with the M-16. Stephen received an honorable discharge as a Private First Class. Steve settled down with his family and held several jobs in Ft. Worth, Texas before moving back to Springfield, MO, where he later retired from Penmac in Springfield 2023. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Iona, his brother Jim, his son Joseph and his wife Diana Staas. He is survived by his brothers David, Chris and Greg: sons; Jason (Tara), Shawn (Mary), Josh (Tannis): grandchildren; Madeleine, Kimberlynn, Jase, Andy, Ethan, Mason, Emma, Jaxon, Claira, Carina. Service with Military honors will be at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic, Missouri on June 19th at 3 o'clock. His sons will spread Steve's ashes in various places that were special to their dad at a later date. Flowers are welcome.
