DELBERT H. PILLIARD
A private graveside service for Delbert H. Pilliard, age 97, of Vacaville, CA, will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery and Mausoleum in Sacramento, CA, with Reverend James Church of the Catholic Church officiating. He passed away on Nov. 16, 2010 in Fairfield, CA.
He was born February 15, 1913 in Auburn, CA to Alfred A. Pilliard and Lavina Tilton, both natives of California. He graduated from Placer High School in Auburn in 1930, where he starred in basketball and baseball, was a good student and enjoyed the musical program.
On July 11, 1937, he married Anna M. Frandrup of Marysville, CA. He attended Heald Business College periodically in 1931-1932, studying accounting.
He began his professional career in Sacramento in 1934, spending the next 15 years with Farm Credit Associations in Sacramento, Bakersfield and Chico. In 1949, he started a 23 year banking career with Crocker National Bank in Red Bluff, Stockton, Yreka and Chico, ending in Sacramento in 1975, when he retired as Vice President at the Sacramento Main Office of the bank.
He was a Founding Member of N.T. Enloe Memorial Hospital in Chico and was the first Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Active as a volunteer leader in Boy Scouts for over 30 years, he was President of two Boy Scout Councils and received the Boy Scout Veterans Award and the highly coveted Silver Beaver Award.
He was past President of Chico 20-30, Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs. Also past Lieutenant Governor of Division 14 of Kiwanis International. Also active in Chambers of Commerce, charitable groups, as well as local government, having served on Grand Juries in three counties, two as Foreman. He served as County Key Banker, representing California Bankers Association in three counties, working with FFA Chapters, 4-H Clubs and other agricultural youth groups. He was a member of the Elks, also SIRS and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
His hobbies were fishing and hunting and family activities with his wife.
His wife, Anna and daughter, Elizabeth Bartlett, preceded him in death in 1993.
He is survived by his daughter, Delanne C. Moss of Vacaville; grandson, Derek Moss of Davis; granddaughters, Nicole Gomez of Citrus Heights and Christine Bartlett of Mather; great-grandsons, Devin and Devon.
Burial arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main Street, Vacaville, CA 95688.
