1935 - 2023

DONALD ELDRED In loving memory of Donald (Don) Elgan Eldred: On October 6, 2023, at the age of 88, Don passed away surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Oroville in 1935, to Arah T Sitton (Charles Eldred). Soon after he moved to Chico, California. Don attended schools in Chico, and graduated from Chico High School in 1953. During his high school years, Don met his soulmate Myrna D Smith. They met through their shared love of going out dancing every weekend. They married in 1955, and together they enjoyed a lasting, and remarkable 68 years of marriage. Don and Myrna were blessed with two wonderful children, Myron C Eldred, and Cathy D Vasconcellos, two grandchildren Alexander C Eldred, and Garrett M Vasconcellos, and one great grandchild Mason G Eldred. Don's family was the center of his world, and he always enjoyed spending time with them. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge, as well as a member of the Eagles, and the Freemasons. He dedicated a career to Pacific Bell, in Chico. Starting in 1955 as a splicers helper and ending his career as a supervisor with 40 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors, and took his family on many camping trips. Spending time fishing, hunting, boating, and water skiing. These activities all became lasting memories. In the 70s they started spending summers as residents of Eagle Lake, California. Spending time with friends and family , watching for eagles, and having drinks on the porch. Don always made you smile by having a joke, or a story to tell. He was a kind man that left us with memories that will last a lifetime. His life was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Don will be loved forever.
