ETHAN JOSEPH YOUNG Ethan Joseph Young, 29, of Chico, California, passed away on December 13, 2023, with family by his side. He was born February 8, 1994 in Oroville, California. Ethan was known for his kindhearted nature, sense of humor, and loving and generous spirit. He had a creative side and was passionate about art. Ethan could also be stubborn and messy, but his complexity made him all the more endearing to those who knew him. Ethan is survived by his parents, Barbara and Steve Young, and his siblings: Michele Phelps, Loren Blunkall, Chris Young, Holly Blunkall, Heather Wilson, Stephen Young, Henry Young, Myriah Rosas, Megan Postma, Jenna Spannbauer, Aaren Werley, and Levi Underwood. He was also cherished by his birth grandmother, Jane Farmer, and his uncle Howard Dougherty, birth uncles Steve and Tracy Farmer as well as his aunts Helen White and Teri Farmer. Ethan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur Young and Betty Dougherty, and his uncles Gary and Marvin Young. Ethan attended Marigold Elementary for his primary education and later graduated from CORE Butte Charter High School. During high school, he had a passion for construction and welding, which led him to participate in a competition in San Diego with his school group. Ethan loved spending time outdoors, riding his bicycle, and indulging in his artistic pursuits. He found solace and joy in these hobbies, which allowed him to express himself and connect with the world around him. A memorial service to celebrate Ethan's life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at the Chico Memorial Mausoleum located at 680 Camellia Way, Chico, California 95926. In Lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to be made to the Youth For Change organization or the 6th Street Center for Youth (www.6thstreetcenter.org).
