Frances Zuppan Obituary

FRANCIS JOSEPH ZUPPAN A Mass of Christian Burial was held on February 20, 2014 at St. Dominic Catholic Church Orland for Francis Joseph Zuppan who passed away at his home in Orland at the age of 85. Francis was born March 11, 1928 in the family home in Martinez, California to Lawrence and Marie (Brenkle) Zuppan. Francis graduated from Alhambra High School in Martinez and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was co-owner of the Canyon Dairy in Franklin Canyon, Martinez until 1976 when he and his brother moved the dairy to Orland. Francis greatest love was farming which he did with a passion right up until the time of his death. He also loved to fish, garden, train his Percheron draft horses, and work on his farm equipment and machines. He was an active member of St Dominic Parish in Orland where he served as Eucharistic Minister; he was named outstanding Knight of KC's Council 3606 for the year 1984 -1985, and was a member of the NFO (National Farmers Organization). Francis is survived by his wife Janet of Orland; children Mary Ellen Zuppan-Jolly of Rambouillet, France and Tom Zuppan of Phoenix, Arizona; Grandsons Jeremy Van Wave, Zane Zuppan, Daniel Jolly and Ian Zuppan; his siblings Lawrence Zuppan Longmont, Colorado), Dorothy Almond (Martinez, CA. Dolores Tower (Reno, Nevada) and John Zuppan of Orland. Francis will be missed by his family, his nieces and nephews and all those who knew him.
