GARLAND HART Obituary
At his request, no formal services will be held for Garland F. Hart, 78 of Chico. Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. in the chapel of Brusie Funeral Home. Garland passed away on September 19, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 23, 1933 in Eufaula, Oklahoma to parents, John and Ollie Hart. Garland attended Yuba City High School, and graduated with the Class of 1951. He was in the U.S. Army for 2 years. In January of 1972, Garland opened and operated Hart's Fabric stores. He closed them in May of 2000. Garland was a member of Rotary. Garland enjoyed cutting wood to build split-railed fences, and loved working on his cabin and property in Butte Meadows. He loved taking his beloved wife, Jeanie of 21 years and his little dog, "Abby" on road trips and vacations.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Michael L. Watson. Garland is survived by his wife, Jeanie of Chico; daughters, Gwen Watson, Gail (Steve) Stillwell, Genelle (Butah) Uppal, all of Yuba City; grandchildren, Latrisha Rasmusson, Josh Watson, and Christinah Uppal; step-children, Scott Lawson of New York, Sheri (John) Mendon of Orland, Patrick Hanley of Walnut Creek, CA; 8 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and 5 step-great-granchildren; a sister, Dorothy (Don) Nickel, Caroline (Larry) Ferreira , all of Yuba City, CA, and Dewayne (Patty) Hart of Paradise, CA.
At his request, if desired, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Butte Humane Society, 2579 Fair St., Chico, CA 95928 or to the Butte Meadows Vol. Fire Dept. Station #10 or to a charity of choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brusie Funeral Home.

Buster gave me my first job when I was 18 and just home from my first year at college. He knew I had lied on my job application and hired me anyway. He looked after me as he would have a younger sister or daughter. After I finished college, he gave me a part-time job night-managing his Yuba City store. Always a kind word and a smile. He was the perfect boss for a timid college student fresh off the farm.

I had the pleasure of knowing Garland & his wonderful daughter Gwen for many years. The lost of a parent is so heart wrenching and my heart, prayers & love go out to the ones left behind. I love you Gwen & am always here for you Sister during this difficult time in your life. God Bless you all.

To Jeanie and the Hart family; I am so deeply sorry for your loss.
Garland "Buster" was like a brother to me.He was a one of my best friends.
We traveled many times to Denver and to Omaha together. He also came to Hawaii with me when I worked there.
Later in life we would meet in Yuba City for lunch because his birtday was in January and mine was in March. We are the same age.
He will always be in my prayers.
I miss him already.

I worked for Buster when he bought Parker's in downtown Chico. He was a wonderful boss and a true gentleman. Years later I got the opportunity to meet him again in Butte Meadows where my family also has a cabin. I will always have the fondest memories of this wonderful sweet man. Corinne Jeffery
