Gene LeSage Obituary

GENE "GENO" LESAGE Our piano man, Gene "Geno" LeSage was called home to be with the Lord on the 9th of March, 2013, at the age of 44. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 1 pm at Paradise Ridge Southern Baptist Church. 6975 Pentz Rd. in Paradise. Gene was born July 24, 1968 to Gene and Linda LeSage in Carmel, CA. He attended schools in Gardnerville and Carson City, NV. Gene was blessed with amazing musical talents. He learned to play the guitar at age 8 and recorded his first song with his dad at age 12. He was drawn to the piano and loved to watch his Grandpa LeSage and Uncle Jim play the keys. He learned to play on his great grandmother's piano and the rest as they say is history. Music was his life and he made his living as a professional musician singer, songwriter, and producer. He played keyboard for Country Artist Collin Raye for 20 years. He wrote and recorded hundreds of songs and released 2 CDs of his own. Besides music, his other love was his family. He grew up going camping and fishing with his grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He especially looked forward to the "Men's Fishing Trip" each May. He loved being in the boat fishing and would go out anytime day or night. His brother-in-law and fishing buddy, Chris, says he is the only man he ever knew to kiss his fish before releasing them back into the water. He loved a friendly wager for the biggest fish caught and having a huge fish fry as long as someone brought the hot sauce. Gene was also a gifted athlete who loved football and baseball. He played several years of Pop Warner Football and Junior Varsity Football in Gardnerville, NV. He could throw a football 80 yards effortlessly. He was a life long Raider fan and cherished his football Sundays. He was an incredible pitcher and could smoke a ball over the plate. He was a patient and precise coach and taught his nephew Noah how to pitch. He was proud to help coach his nephew's Little League team "The Braves" and was thrilled when they won District 47's Tournament of Champions in 2011. His legacy will live on through his five children, Adrienne Fletcher of Reno NV, Geno LeSage of Burlington WI, Rachel LeSage of Sparks NV, and Lily and Levi Bryant of Cummings GA. He is also survived by his parents, Gene and Linda LeSage of Paradise CA, his sister and brother in law, Cheri and Christopher Berg and nephews Noah and Samuel Berg of Chico CA, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family from California and Nevada. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Vincent, and his grandparents Gene and Joan LeSage and Ray and Margaret Vindhurst. Gene had many dreams that were left unfinished as he was taken from us too soon. He was selfless in his last moment on this earth. We will miss your voice, your smile, and your generous heart. You are loved by so many and will be forever be in our hearts. Arrangements entrusted to Paradise Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home.

I just heard about Geno's passing from a friend. Geno to me was the ultimate gentleman and I had numerous talks with him over the years about everything and anything. I lost contact after I left the industry and moved back to Utah but Geno was always one of my favorites. You will be missed.

I just found out of Geno's passing? I heard him play and sing many times around Atlanta, GA and loved his voice. I am not surprised he left this world as a hero.
Sincerely, Dot Reilley

My heart goes out to my wonderful cousin Gene Lesage and his lovely wife Linda as well as to Geno's sister, her husband Chris and their family.

Geno was a delight to our family and brought the whole east coast family members together with his music. We would all gather to meet up with him when he played on the east coast and through his wonderful music, we all got to make fantastic memories and catch up on all our lives. I cannot believe that he has left us so soon. Our great loss is God's gain. He must be needed in heaven. We will all be together again one day. We will never forget you and all the joy that you gave us, Geno. Aunt Edie loves you. We all love you. Rest in peace.

I have a lifetime of memories of camping, holidays, iceskating on a frozen pond in Nevada, eating cherries from our Grandparents' tree until we were sick, performing our original "Purple Bear" at NY eve, all the events under that big walnut tree.....thanks for the many laughs, the music, and for being who God designed you to be. I will see you again cousin. Enjoy your heavenly new life...

My deepest condolences to Gene, Linda and the rest of Geno's family during this incredibly sad time. I met Geno in 1996 when he was on the road with Collin Raye and we formed an instant friendship. He was so talented and a beautiful man inside and out. I treasure every song the he wrote and shared with me and know that his memory is going to live on for a long time as he touched so many lives. God Bless the entire LeSage family. May you be comforted by the love and support of those around you who share in your love for this truly amazing man.

Geno, my Friend, my Brother; a death is not the extinguishing of a light, but the putting out of the lamp because the dawn has come...and ever has it been known that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation....so we will cry as we may, yet tears are a river that take us somewhere. Tears lift our boat off the rocks, off dry ground, carrying it down-river to someplace better. What we have once enjoyed of you, we can never lose. All that we love of you deeply becomes part of us...If we feel your soul in ours, see what you have shown us through our own eyes, then we will see that you have never left us. I miss you already but as you wrote, "I'm Not Alone", even as we keep you in our hearts. So, I will say goodbye for now...until we meet again on the other side of the Vail. I love you Brother!

This candle will burn bright every day and every night until we are all in the great heaven above. I want to tell you I will miss you everyday for the rest of my life, you meant the world to me and always will. I will never forget all the times I went to see you play the keys for Collin Raye and then that weekend I spent with you at the Casino watching you play your beautiful music. I will carry the memories of those times FOREVER in my heart and in my mind. I love you Geno forever!!!! may you rest in peace and know that you are a HERO and a Great Man.
