JIM KNAPPEN

James Forrest Knappen, born in San Jose, CA on October 11, 1933, died on June 9, 2011 at Paradise Hospice. He was 77.

He chewed rubberbands and kept a Jaguar in the garage... His eldest son was my best friend growing up and I'll always appreciate his cool attitude and accepting heart. I last saw him at a restaurant in Salinas, CA and cherise that moment of knowing I was in blessed company. I look forward to sharing time eternal with him again....

Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

My brother in law of nearly 56 years, I know Jim as a truly honorable man of great courage and conviction, a warm, friendly person who really enjoyed people. By example he and Margaret have taught me so much of Christian Living. He is very much missed and will continue to be often in our thoughts, conversations and memories. I anticipate seeing him strong and healthy again after the Resurrection. We love you Jim...

Uncle Jim Now that you are no longer physically among us, I think one of things many people in the world around "us" will miss out on because they hadn't had the joy of meeting you is your love of family, country, people & sharing what you knew, believed & felt truly compassionate about. No matter where you were, you knew no strangers & genuinely loved to talk with everyone. Your enjoyment of a great joke & laughter has been quieted for now; but what I am most thankful for is that someday soon we will all see you and most importantly you will be no longer struggle with the pain you fought every day in this life. Much love
