Joe Pechanec Obituary

JOE (CHARLES DARRAGH) PECHANEC JOE (CHARLES DARRAGH) PECHANEC - inventor, builder, and artist, age 69, died October 2, 2013, in Chico California, after a brave battle with cancer. Joe, son of Charles Pechanec, Jr. and Mary Shackford Pechanec, both deceased, was born August 10, 1944 in Pasadena, California. He is survived by his partner, Shellie Vann-Volk, and two sisters, Hilde Pechanec Clark, of Berkeley, California and Anna Pechanec Ancheta, of Idyllwild, California, a brother- in -law, Robert L. Clark, of Berkeley, three nieces, Serena Grace Ancheta, Sascha (Emilie) Alexandra Clark, and Cecilia Elizabeth Clark, and a nephew, Gabriel Willis Clark. Joe will be sadly missed by his family and by many caring friends. A uniquely creative man, with an unceasingly curious mind, Joe was knowledgeable in depth about a vast array of subjects, including sailing, sailboat design and invention, furniture making, wood working, architecture, small plane piloting, politics, philosophy, art, drawing, jazz, sculpture, film, fiction, non fiction, and no doubt more. Joe shared his ideas generously and eloquently with others. He was known for his wit and humor, and his great enthusiasm for the world around him. He was an irreplaceable contributor to the lives of all who knew him. A gathering in Joe's memory will be held at Beatnik's Restaurant 1387 East 8th Street, Chico at 4:30 PM on Sunday, October 27

Hi Joe, Sorry that you died. We go back a long time ago to Seal Beach. Haven't seen you in a few years but thought about you often.

I've lived next door to Joe since 2008. He was a great neighbor and always complimented me on my yard and my beautiful little dog! He was always cheerful and in a good mood and he enjoyed jogging down our country lane. We lived next door to each other for three years before we discovered the County of Butte had made an error and both of our houses had the same number, 3955, but different streets. This was very confusing for UPS! Goodbye Joe, I will miss you! Lynn D.
