LUCILLE PITT Obituary

LUCILLE IRENE (LAFLAMME) PITT On Nov. 12, 1922, Lucille Irene LaFlamme was born in Duluth, Minnesota. She grew up there with her 7 sisters and brothers until she met Walter Pitt. Walter having been a Captain in the Army, Lucille followed him to Kilgore, Texas, where they married. Having gotten married in Nov. of 1942, and Walter passing in Sept. of 1992, they were just short of their 50th wedding anniversary. They had 4 children in 6½yrs. In Louisiana, Judy was born, then on to Oregon, where Shari and Charles were born, where they were lucky enough to escape a flood from a dam breaking and flooding their home. Although they did lose most everything they owned. The next trip was to Oklahoma, where Jackie was born. The next years were spent in the states of New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, all six of us in an Airstream. What an adventure!! Mom said for the longest time she seemed to have a baby in her arms, one by the hand, and one or two running around her. In 1955, Walter got transferred to Germany so off we went again! We stayed 2½yrs. Walter took ill in 1957 and they returned to live near family in Minnesota. After 3 yrs. and being in remission, he moved the family to San Jose, CA. Walter was a Mason and he and Lucille became involved with the Masonic Lodge of San Jose and the Shriners. Lucille became a volunteer at the Shriners Children's Clinic. She loved that job and working with the children. She also loved getting out in her garden, sewing, and baking. She loved cooking and teaching us how to make the best desserts ever, such as pies, cakes, cream puffs, and just about anything you could want. She is the mother of 4, Judy Pedder (Bill deceased), Shari Pitt, Charles Pitt (deceased), and Jackie Carley (Brad); grandmother of 6; great-grandmother of 9; and great-great-grandmother of 3. In 2001, Lucille moved to the Terraces in Chico, CA to be closer to her children. In 2010, she moved to the Monterey House. She loved all the caregivers that cared for her every need. We thank all of those at the Monterey House, who not only took care of her, but also deeply cared about her as well. Many thanks also to BHH Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion. Lucille left us Christmas day 2012. In May 2013, Lucille and Walter will be returning to Duluth, Minnesota for a celebration of life with family. She will be laid to rest near her mother and siblings. She was always a Lady and our rock. We take pride in the fact that she is our mother and grandmother and our everything. We Love you and will miss you more than words could ever say. You may share your thoughts and memories of Lucille online at NewtonBracewell.com
