Monroe Behr Obituary
"SUNNY" BEHR
Monroe Albert "Sunny" Behr, beloved friend and husband, father and grandfather, a man of deep integrity, honest and true, was born to Emil and Johanna Behr in Kennett, Calif. in 1915. He entered into Rest on February 11, 2007 at his home Farmington, N.M. surrounded by his loving family. Preceding him into eternity were his first wife Esther and his daughter Carol. Sunny leaves behind his wife Helen; three brothers; three children; four step-children; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many friends around the country.
Sunny was introduced to the grocery business early in life when he helped out at his parents' store in Chico, Calif. In 1940 he opened Sunny's Market on Larkin Road in Live Oak, Calif. After the new highway was developed, he built a new store on Broadway, which still bears his name. He retired from his business in 1985.
He was a veteran who proudly served his country in World War II.
Sunny looked forward to the fall of every year when deer hunting season would open. He thoroughly enjoyed the great outdoors all his life. He was a member of the Live Oak Lions Club and received a Plaque of Appreciation for 30 years of outstanding service.
In 1980 Sunny married Helen Wilkinson and together they traveled through many states and to Europe where they visited Gingst, Germany, the birthplace of his mother. They moved to and lived in Cottonwood, Arizona for 11 years and recently moved to Farmington, N.M. to be near family.
Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Monday, February 19th at Ullery's Memorial Chapel in Yuba City, Calif. Rosary will follow. Mass will be held at St. Isadore Catholic Church in Yuba City, Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at 10 A.M., with burial to follow at Live Oak Cemetery.

My grandma live across the street when I was a little girl from Sunny's Market. I would take a coke bottle and walk into that store and buy payday and bubble gum. My mom worked at the store at one point. Sunny was always so very very kind.
