Nancy Kelly Obituary

NANCY KELLY Nancy Kelly of Cherokee, 90, peacefully left us November 12. Peaceful wasn't her usual way. One quarter Irish, and three quarters Native American, Nancy was a fighter who came at the world loaded for bear. Born in Denver, Nancy, her brother and four sisters grew up alternating between Denver and Los Angeles, whichever offered father Joe Kelly the most for his family at the time. Nancy worked as an LVN at hospitals and later in private duty. She loved riding in the L.A. County hills with her horse Chickasaw. She was good enough at country dancing to open her own school to teach it. Nancy's oldest daughter, Julia Olson, was taken by Lupus. She left behind another daughter, Joy Dwyer of Las Vegas and a son, Adam Hotchkiss of Houston, along with 7 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren. She also left behind her loving companion of 22 years, Jack McWherter, of Cherokee. Four of those years were in the 1970's. They got back together again after both had mellowed some, for the last 18. The world is a much less interesting place without her.
