Nick Cvitkovich Obituary
Nick Cvitkovich went into the loving arms of his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 20, 2008, after a brave, yet brief battle with leukemia.
He was born April 5, 1941, to Nick and Mildred Cvitkovich in Ely, Nevada and was 67 years of age. He attended schools in Ely until high school graduation. Nick was an outstanding pitcher, traveling far and wide for the Ely baseball team.
He continued his educational pursuits at Woodbury Business College, UCLA, the University of Nevada in Reno, and at the FBI police academy.
Nick enjoyed a variety of careers, including Asst. Dist. Manager of Gulf Oil for the State of Nevada; he owned his own Gulf service station; he was Dean of Students for Reno High School, and eventually settled in Paradise where he served as Superintendent of Public Works until his retirement.
Nick was an active member of the Paradise Alliance Church, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, California Water Fowl Assn., Ducks Unlimited and the NRA. He was also an expert fly fisherman who loved the great outdoors.
Nick so deeply loved God, his family and so many dear friends. His great smile and spirit could light up a room. Nick was loved in return by so many and he will be profoundly missed.
He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 23 years, Karyn; son Mike (Tracie); daughter Theresa (Ron); granddaughters Candice (Adam) and Alexandria; sisters Yvonne (Ed) and Carrie (Dennis); along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.
The family would especially like to thank Dr. Sam Mazj and his staff at Feather River Hospital Cancer Center and the "angels" at Feather River Hospice House for their loving care & friendship.
Donations may be made to Feather River Hospital Hospice House or to the Paradise Alliance Church.
A memorial service & celebration of Nick's life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Paradise Alliance Church. Arrangements were made by Rose Chapel Mortuary.

I've known Nick over the years and I must say I was truly saddened by his passing. My heart goes out to you! Nick always had a BIG SMILE and a kind heart. Everyone will remember him for those attributes and much more.
He was always quick with a joke and I never heard a bad work cross his lips; again everyone will miss Nick.

Karyn, I am so sorry. I just heard of Nick's passing and I'm in total shock. I loved Nick and will miss him terribly. He was one of the most kind hearted men I've ever known.

I went all through school and graduated with Nina. I had hoped that he might bring you, Karyn to one of the class reunions. I also was a neighbor of his folks. Yvonne and Carrie know who I am as Yvonne babysat for me. Over the years I have thought of Nina fondly. Yvonne, I would like to visit with you and Carrie one of these days. and Karyn it would be nice to meet you also.

Hayden often spoke of what a truly nice guy your Nick is and everyone I know who knew him has only good things to say; I was privileged to meet him a couple of times and it's obvious he was a very kind, loving, special man who will be missed by all who knew him. Karyn,
I just learned of Nick's passing. Mom (Ardys), Dad (Dwayne) and I extend our deepest sympathies. We always look back on our classes together 20 plus years ago and the greatest thing we got out of the time was getting to know you and Nick. We have been blessed and enriched by knowing both of you.
I'm glad I will have a chance someday to have some laughs with Nick over some Oyster Crackers.
