Patrick Brownfield Obituary

PAT BROWNFIELD Patrick D. Brownfield was born on June 5, 1963 in Chico. He was the youngest of Don and Betty Brownfield's five children. Pat was raised locally, and proud of that fact. From a young age he naturally excelled in many sports, and sports stuck with him his entire life, whether it be playing ball or umpiring for the teams he grew up loving, he was always involved. He preferred to be outdoors fishing, hunting, or just working with his dogs, who he loved like family. Pat had the kind of caring personality that would just draw people in, and his humor made him a "character" you simply couldn't forget. After high school his adventurous sprit led him to the state of Alaska where he experienced life on a fishing boat, and worked on the pipeline. Pat then returned to his home town of Chico where he could work with his loved ones, while continuing to grow the legacy of the family business, Chico Granite and Marble Works. Pat passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the home he grew up in. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Don and Betty Brownfield. Pat is survived by his fianc‚e and partner in life, Debra Stickel; a son, Daniel Knox; his siblings, Jason (Lynda) Brownfield, Kathleen (James) Jack, Ted Brownfield and Donnie Brownfield. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Newton-Bracewell Funeral Home, 680 Camellia Way, Chico. A private burial will then take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Red Bluff. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in care if the funeral home. You may share your thoughts online at NewtonBracewell.com

Dear Donnie, Teddie and Debbie, We are so sorry that Pat is no longer with us. He was such a wonderful man and friend. We will miss him driving by our home and honking, or stopping to challenge our son to win a dollar he'd licked and stuck on his windshield. He'd tell Troy if he could make the basket from wherever he stood he could have it, or he'd be back the next day. We will miss his sense of humor and smile, and great counseling ability. :) He'd sometimes stop by and say "I may be old, but I am not that old," and he'd hit baseballs in the yard with us. He'd leave his truck in the middle of the road, and say "They'll go around it." Our family thought the world of Pat, and we will miss him deeply. We love you all, and our prayers are with you. Love Charlie, Connie (Young), and Troy Cardin

My heart sank when I heard that Patrick is no longer with us. I enjoyed Patrick's friendship, humor, compassion, business skills and the fact that he was a Great talent in fabricating the most beautiful Head-Stone Markers that I have ever seen. He was a true artist. Everyone loved his work. Patrick is no exception to the Brownfield legacy that has been around Northern California area for many generations. I've had the pleasure of knowing the Brownfield family. They are all very good people. Patrick was very dear to my heart and I'm going to miss him. He treated everyone with a lot of respect.
Sincerely,
Steve Crane--Corning Cemetery Caretaker

Pat and I used to listen to that silly Coast Coast radio show about alien implants and abductees. Damn you Pat for letting them get you. My love to you always Patrick Brownfield. You were a good man. Although Pat and I were mere acquaintances I have fond memories of walking into “Home Bakery” and seeing him there. Watch out if the conversation turned into a Niners vs. Raiders and who was best! At first I was not sure if he was really angry but then a smile would start to form and we would both start laughing!
Pat was always the first to say hello when I would see him and I am very sorry to hear of his death. I will not forget him and my thoughts and prayers are with family
