Robert Bachus Obituary

ROBERT A. BACHUS June 1, 1949-Dec. 4, 2017 Retired Chico Fire Captain, Robert A. Bachus, peacefully passed away, after a long illness. He grew up in the Bay Area, graduating from San Carlos H.S. in 1967. He attended Butte College and, after receiving his fire science degree, was hired as a fire fighter in 1976 and served the city of Chico for 29 years. Rob was a traveller of the world, loved riding his Harley, animal lover, an artist, and could build anything including his home in Cohasset. He loved nature and the outdoors; hunting with his friend, Wayne, in Utah, who also taught him gem Faceting; camping and ATV riding in the deserts of Utah and Nevada with his wife; exploring the Black Rock Desert with long-time friends, Sam and Dana, where they developed many of the existing hot springs. He was a wine enthusiast, grew wine grapes and loved that dark, smooth stuff. He was a man's man, a good friend, someone to count on and full of love. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Delia, and her extended family. He is also survived by his mother, Leona, four siblings and many nieces and nephews.

Rob epitomized all that is special about the Bachus family. When he was interested in something he became a master of it. I will fondly remember Rob the rest of my days. Rest In Peace my friend.

I loved working with Rob. Always felt comfortable with him in any situation. Also had fun times pouring concrete with Rob, though he would always fuss over the slump. Truly a good man.

Rob (BearToes) was my dear friend. We grew up together in Woodside, California. Through our youth, we had many great experiences together with Carol Cesario and Nancy Kazazean. I always loved his smile and his interest in me through the years and everything I did. He visited me in Utah several times. My deepest sympathy to all of his family!
